Electroholic: A Modern Display Font for Editorial Design

Sitting at my desk with a fresh cup of coffee, I was tasked with redesigning the header for a new lifestyle blog. The challenge? Finding a font that felt both modern and approachable—something that could stand out without overwhelming the reader. That’s when I first encountered Electroholic.

Electroholic is a display font with a clean, structured feel, inspired by authentic electronic lines. It carries a subtle rhythm and balance that makes it perfect for editorial projects where visual appeal meets readability. Its personality is calm yet confident, making it an excellent choice for content that needs to feel both professional and inviting.

A Lifestyle Blog Header Redesign

I decided to test Electroholic on the blog’s header. The previous font had become outdated, and the brand needed a fresh identity. Electroholic’s geometric shapes and even spacing gave the header a sleek, contemporary look. It paired well with a soft serif font for the subheadings, creating a harmonious contrast that guided the reader’s eye naturally from title to content.

The font’s clarity made it easy to read on both desktop and mobile screens. Even in smaller sizes, it maintained its legibility, which was crucial for a blog that relied heavily on search engine visibility and user engagement.

Using Electroholic in Content Layouts

As I worked through the rest of the design, I found Electroholic to be incredibly versatile. It worked beautifully as a title font for featured articles, adding a touch of sophistication without being too bold. For pull quotes, I used a lighter weight of the font to emphasize key phrases while keeping them visually distinct from the body text.

In the magazine-style layout I created for the blog, Electroholic became the go-to font for section headers and chapter openers. Its clean lines helped establish a clear visual hierarchy, making it easier for readers to navigate through the content. The font also looked great in print, maintaining its crispness even when exported as a PDF.

Editorial Projects Beyond Blog Headers

Electroholic isn’t just limited to blog headers. I’ve since used it in several other editorial projects. For a recipe ebook, I applied it to the cover and chapter titles. The font’s modern aesthetic complemented the minimalist design of the book, giving it a professional yet approachable feel.

In a wedding guide I designed, Electroholic added a subtle elegance to the event sections. It worked especially well when paired with a warm sans-serif font for captions and descriptions, ensuring the text remained easy to read while still feeling stylish.

For a coaching workbook, I used Electroholic for section headings and activity titles. Its structured appearance helped reinforce the organized nature of the content, while its subtle character kept the tone friendly and encouraging.

Readability and Practical Considerations

One of the most important factors in choosing any font is readability. Electroholic excels in this area, particularly when used for short-form content like headlines, pull quotes, and section titles. However, it’s not ideal for long-form reading due to its more stylized form. For body text, pairing it with a more readable serif or sans-serif font ensures a balanced and accessible layout.

When using Electroholic in digital formats, I always check how it renders across different devices and screen sizes. It holds up well on mobile, but I avoid using it in very small sizes to maintain clarity. For print materials, I ensure that the font is embedded properly and that the file format supports high-quality output.

Font Pairing and Brand Identity

Font pairing is essential in editorial design, and Electroholic offers a lot of flexibility. I’ve successfully paired it with a variety of fonts, including classic serif fonts like Garamond for a timeless feel, or modern sans-serif fonts like Montserrat for a cleaner, more contemporary look.

Its versatility allows it to support different brand identities—from minimalist and modern to elegant and refined. Whether used for a personal blog, a commercial publication, or a digital course, Electroholic adds a unique visual element that enhances the overall design.

Before using Electroholic in any project, I always check the available styles, alternates, ligatures, and weights. The font includes several variations that can be used to create subtle differences in tone and emphasis. I also verify that it supports multilingual characters and that the licensing covers the intended use, whether for print, web, or digital distribution.

Electroholic has become a staple in my design toolkit. Its clean, structured lines and modern aesthetic make it a great choice for a wide range of editorial projects. Whether I’m working on a blog header, an ebook cover, or a printable guide, Electroholic consistently delivers a polished and professional result that enhances the reader’s experience.
